The holiday season is a time for gratitude, compassion, and service—and this year, those values were on full display during the Tax Commissioner’s 5th Annual Coats for Christmas event. Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of our community partners, donors, and volunteers, we were honored to distribute over 800 brand-new coats to families across Clayton County who needed warmth and hope this Christmas season.
More Than Coats—A Gift of Care and Dignity
Every coat given was brand new with tags, intentionally provided as a Christmas gift, not a hand-me-down. Our goal has always been to bless families with dignity—ensuring children, seniors, and parents feel seen, valued, and cared for during the coldest months of the year.
From toddlers to teens and adults, each family walked away warmer—both physically and in spirit—knowing their community stands with them.
Five Years of Growing Impact
What began five years ago as a heartfelt effort to meet a growing need has become a cherished annual tradition. Year after year, Coats for Christmas continues to expand its reach, touching more lives and strengthening the bonds that make Clayton County such a special place to call home.
This milestone year—serving more than 800 individuals—reflects the power of partnership and the compassion that defines our county.
Gratitude to Our Community Champions
This event would not be possible without the unwavering support of our community. We extend sincere thanks to:
Our generous donors who gave selflessly
Our community partners and local organizations
Our dedicated volunteers who worked tirelessly
Our county colleagues and leaders who supported the mission
Your commitment turned kindness into action and made a tangible difference for hundreds of families.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on this incredible milestone, we are reminded that service is a year-round calling. The success of the 5th Annual Coats for Christmas inspires us to continue finding meaningful ways to serve, uplift, and protect our Clayton County families.
From my heart to yours—thank you for helping us live out the true spirit of the season.
With gratitude,
Danielle SmithYour Clayton County Tax Commissioner
