Investing in the Future: The Tax Commissioner’s Bi-Annual Youth Golf Camps
Building confidence, character, and opportunity starts with our youth—and that belief is at the heart of the Tax Commissioner’s Bi-Annual Youth Golf Camps. Hosted twice each year (Spring Break and Fall Break), these camps are designed to expose young people across Clayton County to the game of golf while teaching valuable life skills that extend far beyond the course.
More Than Golf Lessons
The Youth Golf Camps are intentionally structured to be both instructional and inspirational. While participants learn golf fundamentals such as grip, stance, swing mechanics, and course etiquette, they are also introduced to essential life lessons including:
Discipline and focus
Sportsmanship and integrity
Confidence and self-belief
Respect for peers, coaches, and mentors
Golf becomes the vehicle—but leadership, accountability, and personal growth are the true goals.
Creating Access and Exposure
For many participants, this camp represents their first exposure to golf, a sport that can open doors to scholarships, networking opportunities, and lifelong recreation. By removing barriers to access, the Tax Commissioner’s office is committed to ensuring all Clayton County youth—regardless of background—have the opportunity to learn, grow, and explore new possibilities.
Mentorship and Community Support
The camps are made possible through the dedication of volunteer instructors, community partners, and mentors who pour into our youth with patience and encouragement. Their presence reinforces the importance of positive role models and community involvement in shaping the next generation.
Parents consistently express gratitude for a program that not only teaches a sport, but also instills values that children carry back into their schools, homes, and everyday lives.
A Commitment to Youth Development
Now a staple community initiative, the bi-annual Youth Golf Camps reflect the Tax Commissioner’s broader commitment to youth empowerment, education, and exposure. Each camp strengthens our belief that when we invest in young people, we invest in the future of Clayton County.
As we look ahead, we remain excited to continue expanding these camps, reaching more youth, and creating meaningful experiences that inspire confidence—on and off the green.
With gratitude and purpose,
Danielle Smith, Your Clayton County Tax Commissioner
