It Was Our Pleasure to Speak at the HB870 Town Hall Meetings
Community education and transparency are essential to good government, and it was truly our pleasure to speak with Clayton County residents during the HB870 Town Hall Meetings. These sessions provided an important opportunity to connect directly with homeowners, answer questions, and ensure our community clearly understood what House Bill 870 (HB870) means and how it could impact them.
Creating Space for Conversation and Clarity
The HB870 Town Hall Meetings were intentionally designed to be informative, welcoming, and interactive. Residents were encouraged to ask questions, share concerns, and gain a clear understanding of the proposed homestead tax relief measure. Meaningful dialogue was at the heart of each meeting, reinforcing our commitment to open communication and public service.
Educating Our Community on Property Tax Relief
During the meetings, we discussed:
Who crafted HB870
What HB870 is and why it was introduced
Who may qualify for the proposed exemption
How the measure would work if approved by voters
The importance of civic engagement and staying informed
Our goal was simple: to ensure residents had accurate information so they could make informed decisions regarding property tax relief and their role in the democratic process.
Grateful for Engaged and Informed Residents
We were encouraged by the level of participation and thoughtful questions from those who attended. These conversations reflect a community that cares deeply about understanding how legislation affects their households, neighbors, and future. Engagement like this strengthens trust and reinforces the importance of bringing government information directly to the people.
A Commitment to Continued Outreach
Speaking at the HB870 Town Hall Meetings reaffirmed our dedication to educating and empowering our Clayton residents. We remain committed to meeting residents where they are, providing clear guidance, and ensuring Clayton County homeowners feel supported and informed every step of the way.
Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped make these town halls a success. It is always an honor to serve and to stand alongside a community that values knowledge, dialogue, and progress.
With appreciation,
Danielle Smith, Your Clayton County Tax Commissioner
